What i like about Nautilus and Skate is, unlike Seawolf (ssn575) is their unified submerged/surface speed with Skate retaining stern torpedo tubes. In regards to nuke boats, Skate is a smaller Nautilus with stern torpedo tubes. I think the above is very reasonable, however, if included: Oxygen recycling not withstanding, Nuc boats could stay underwater for much longer.Ĭonventional boats stop with the Barbell class If Nuclear boats are included that's the biggest arguement to keep air time over switching it to Batteries. Would they stop just short with the conventional Tang class? Or would they go up the Skate class (with the Nautilus as a premium), or beyond with the Barbel/Skipjack teardrop hull? Where nuclear boats fit is the biggest question. In past discussions we've tried to hash out where WG will put the end of the typical submarine trees.
